community SUPPORT
AT MAGGIE SOTTERO

Beyond our meticulous designs, our heart, and love expand into our global community. Our sense of home is both local and global. Giving back and helping others through our community support efforts has always been at the core of this women-led, multi-generational family business. Love connects us all.

WHAT ARE OUR COMMUNITY support efforts?

Community and charity are pillars of our Maggie Promise. And our heart is at the center of this promise as we make efforts to create a better future for our Maggie family.

Since the beginning, we have promoted a culture of charity to build stronger and healthier communities. Through donations and volunteer efforts, we strive to influence positive change and be a force for good. At Maggie, we strongly believe that by encouraging acts of service within our community, we are developing a powerful, shared sense of purpose and belonging which is a driving force behind everything we do. Through our volunteer efforts, partnerships, and give-back initiatives, community support isn’t just a responsibility — it’s a path toward a brighter, more prosperous future.

volunteering INITIATIVES

Serving and strengthening our community through volunteerism is an important part of the Maggie ethos, fostering a sense of unity and connectedness amongst us all. Over the years, we have worked to provide much-needed community support to organizations and individuals:

In 2023 we collaborated with International Bird Rescue and Friends of Great Salt Lake to clean up over 200 pounds of garbage to help protect biodiversity in our home state of Utah.

Our team partnered with CIRENAS Turtle Refuge in Costa Rica to plant white almond trees in support of the regeneration of biological corridors and beach ecosystems.

In our UK office, the team had the opportunity to clean up the Eastham Country Park to promote habitat preservation.

Over the years we have hosted local blood drives, made hygiene kits, stuffed animals, blankets, and more to support those in need.

give-back INITIATIVES

Giving back to our community is at the heart of what we do, and we aim to inspire change and serve those in need year-round. We’ve had the opportunity to donate to under-served communities and work with global organizations to give back:

We have donated 700+ gowns to design school students in the U.S. and the U.K. to inspire creative minds through Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles, and the Rare School of Fashion and Art in Liverpool.

To pay our respect to some of our heroes, we donated 300+ discontinued gowns to Brides Across America, a community organization providing free dresses to qualified military, first responders, and healthcare workers.

Yearly, we have shown our community support through our Cheer for Charity initiatives. Since 2021, our annual Cheer for Charity initiative has been supporting the Huntsman Cancer Institute, a world-renowned cancer research center, and treatment hospital located in Salt Lake City, Utah to honor the members of our Maggie family who have been affected by cancer. To promote love and hope through the holiday season, we donate a percentage of all sales from Black Friday through December 31st to the Institute to help fund essential research.

Since 2021, as an additional gesture of gratitude in the giving season, Maggie Sottero Designs has donated $5,000 to the charity of choice for the top five Maggie Sottero Authorized Retailers who made the most Maggie bride’s dreams a reality each December.
In 2022 we were able to give to the following charities our retailers partnered with:

Saint Jude’s Research Hospital: A medical organization dedicated to preventing and treating pediatric diseases through research and treatment regardless of the cost of care.

Saint Joseph’s School: A local organization dedicated to educating students through faith formation and academic excellence.

Live Like Ryan Foundation: A foundation that awards competitive scholarships to youths who are passionate about volunteer humanitarian relief work.

Nordisk Hjälp: A politically and religiously independent non-profit organization with the purpose of helping people in need with humanitarian projects and long-term development projects.

MS Hope: Created by Mathew Embry, MS Hope was created for people who have been diagnosed with Multiple Scoliosis to provide them with science-based strategies to live a healthy, drug-free life.

In 2021, the strong heart energy of the Maggie family shone bright, and we were able to donate to the following retailers’ charities of choice:

Sunnybrook Foundation: An organization committed to helping women with high-risk pregnancies and their babies get the care they need.

The University of Iowa Center for Advancement: The money was donated to the center to support the Terry Wahls research for Multiple Sclerosis.

Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento: This local charity provides a spectrum of support and resources to the Youth population in California’s capital city.

Fashion for the Cure: This annual charity event has raised over a million dollars for children battling cancer. The event entails a charity auction, fashion show, and exhibition featuring fashion concepts and designs from local high school students and future fashion designers.

YWCA of Utah: An organization dedicated to helping the advancement of women through safety, advocacy, and opportunity.

In 2020, the Maggie community came together to raise thousands of dollars for Team Peri, which raises money to help children with life-threatening pediatric illnesses.

We also helped the folks in our local community with limited access to food by raising funds for the Souper Bowl of Caring and donating to the Utah Food Bank.

Giving back and community support is deeply rooted in our Maggie heart. By lending a hand to those in need, we can create a ripple effect of kindness and generosity that can lift us up for generations to come. Love and community connect us all.
