Which Maggie Sottero gown did you wear?
Carmen in light gold/pewter
How did you know when you found “the dress”?
I always knew what style I wanted to wear on our wedding day: a light and silky dress… vintage, very old Hollywood glamour. After trying a few dresses I went to my local shop and this is where I first saw Carmen. I remember the feeling I had when I was being helped into the dress: amazing! I knew this ticked all the boxes and when I first saw myself in the mirror I knew then that I had found the dress. I was so overwhelmed, I cried.
What was your favorite part of the dress?
This is hard to choose as I love every single bit of my dress. But if I had to choose it would be the detail across the back.
How did you and your partner meet?
My husband is a firefighter and worked at the end of where I had my first home. We used to say hello to each other when passing but I made the first move. I called the station and left a message asking him to call me. He did in fact call me that evening and we went for our first date a week later, and nine years later here we are.
How did he propose?
Michael was injured very badly while on duty so was being cared for in hospital. He had planned before the accident to take me away and propose to me, but was now unable to, so he asked for help from family to collect the ring and make arrangements. He convinced all his doctors and nurses who cared for home to let him home for my 30th birthday, 11th December, 2014, as he wanted to propose on this day. They all kept this a secret from me, telling me he was home to see how he would get on without hospital care. I remember this day: I brought him home, and I was so happy but so scared due to his injuries. We arranged to have close family over for dinner, and shortly after dinner we were all relaxing when his dad started to help him onto one knee. There he was in front of me asking me to be his wife! Words cannot describe this moment for me. I was so grateful that he was even with us and to add the fact he wanted me to be his wife was completely overwhelming.
Where did you get married? The St. Pancras Hotel in London.
Did your wedding have a theme? Old Hollywood vintage glamour.
How did you decide what you wanted your wedding to look like? I have always loved old fashion black and white films and I’m a sucker for love stories. I wanted to create something similar for us, a style we would remember for years and a day people would never forget.
What was your favorite wedding day moment? The moment I walked down the aisle with my farther in-law beside me and my husband-to-be waiting for me. The second Michael took my hand and looked me in the eyes and smiled at me, I knew that after everything we had been through I was lucky to have him there and knew we had been blessed to have this day.
Describe your wedding in one word. Amazing
What advice do you have for future brides? Don’t stress on the day; you will look stunning and everything will be perfect, but mostly remember why your there, to marry the man of your dreams. |
