Q: What are the essential items a bride should bring when trying on wedding dresses?

A: “When trying on wedding dresses we ask our Brides to bring an appropriate heel for height, a comfortable strapless bra and/or shape-wear and a few ideas to start.”

Q: What tips do you have for brides who aren’t sure how to pick a dress?

A: “The best way to pick the dress is to have a venue site for the ceremony and reception, which helps to provide the look and mood of the celebration. Also, narrowing down the shape of the dress that best flatters the bride’s body helps eliminate the many options of gowns and styles out there and helps brides find the dress.”

Q: What trends are you seeing in your region? 

A: “The most popular trends currently are low or sheer interesting backs, beautifully beaded belts, romantic vintage laces and bridal gowns with color such as blush, gold and champagne.”

Q: What is your favorite part about working with brides?

A: “My favorite part about working with brides is being able to see a family together, experiencing the moment a bride finds the perfect gown, a memory that she will never forget, and being a part of that emotional journey with them.”

Q: Which Maggie Sottero/Sottero & Midgley gown would you choose to wear for you wedding?

A: “My name is Didi Stout and I have been working at Trudys Brides as a bridal consultant for about 6 years now. It’s been 7 years since my wedding and I am a Maggie Sottero bride. I wore the beautiful Suzanne and have fond memories of my gown, my appointment and my wedding.”

Q: What’s your favorite Maggie Sottero / Sottero & Midgley dress?

A: “Today I have several Maggie Sottero/Sottero & Midgley favorites for different reasons, but if I had to choose one, I would choose the Londyn, in the beautiful ivory over vintage mist color. The exquisite floral lace is romantic with a light sheath shape, an incredible neckline and a gorgeously sexy but still classic illusion lace back. The lace and the color of the gown is the epitome of vintage sophisticated romance and is our favorite trend right now.”

Q: If you could tell brides one thing, what would it be?

A: “If I could tell our brides one thing, I would say keep an open mind and surprise yourself. Do not be discouraged that the style you thought you wanted doesn’t work and end up liking a completely different style, it happens more often than you think. Trust your consultant and try on something that you normally would not have considered or even like on the hanger. It could end up being the perfect one giving you that bridal “Say Yes” moment that you were waiting for!”
