This Rebecca Ingram Bride Had Both Parents Walk Her Down the Aisle!
We love many things about this chic summer wedding, but the highlight reel includes a minty blue tutu for the flower girl, how the bride had both parents walk her down the aisle, the exquisite florals (like, hydrangeas!), and the subtle nods to the couple’s Penn State courtship. Keep scrolling for breezy-happy-pretty details!
This bride chose relaxed lace wedding gown Drew for her big day (waiting at an authorized Rebecca Ingram retailer near you!). The occasion was captured beautifully by Ashley Errington Photography.
Which Maggie Sottero gown did you wear?
I wore Drew by Rebecca Ingram, purchased at Irini’s Originals.
How did you know when you found “the dress”?
I went back to the dress retailer to try on a dress I thought I was going to purchase that night when the store owner suggested I try on the Drew dress. I had described the dress I wanted to find to have lace, with thin straps, and a little bit of a mermaid style and I definitely did not want any beading. She suggested trying it on, even though it had beading, so I gave it a chance. Once I had it on, I fell in love with it and made the decision to buy it within 20 minutes, and I am a very indecisive person! That is why I knew it was the one!
What was your favorite part of the dress?
I absolutely loved the beading over the lace layer and the scalloped neckline.
How did you and your partner meet?
John and I met our junior year at Pennsylvania State University. We lived in the same apartment building and met through mutual friends. We dated for 7 years.
How did he propose?
John created quite the proposal for me! John took me to a local arboretum to take “family photos” with his sisters. Once we got to the location, I saw a string of pictures hanging up with special moments from our relationship and a letter from John. I knew at that moment what was about to happen, and after I bawled my eyes out reading his note, he got down on one knee and popped the question! John and I had lunch plans with my family that day, and when we arrived, I was surprised to find family and friends waiting to celebrate with an engagement party (another part of John’s wonderful plan that he had coordinated for months, even having my best friend and MOH fly in from Arizona!). During the engagement party, John told me there was one more surprise—that we were leaving for Key West, Florida, after the engagement party. I had always talked about wanting to go to Key West, so he planned a few days there for us to celebrate—I just had to pack some outfits for the beach. We celebrated life, love and happiness in the Florida sun. It was truly a magical day.
Where did you get married?
Greenville Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware.
Did your wedding have a theme?
Garden Boho Chic with a Penn-State-Pride flair 🙂
How did you decide what you wanted your wedding to look like?
I started with a color scheme because knew I was set on certain shades of blues and greens. After finding the perfect shades with Show Me your Mumu bridesmaids dresses, the rest of the vision took off from there with succulents, wine corks, flower crowns, gold accents and garden fun.
What was your favorite wedding day moment?
My favorite moment was walking down the aisle with my mom and dad while staring at John the whole way down!
Describe your wedding in one word.
Incredible.
What advice do you have for future brides?
Try not to stress over things the week leading up to the wedding. Take that week to focus on yourself and relax before your big day! Also, your wedding day will go by so fast so try to soak in the little moments and enjoy spending time with all of your loved ones! If things don’t go as planned, no one will notice and your day will still be perfect!
