Q: What are the essential items a bride should bring when trying on wedding dresses?

A: “The essential items for a bridal appointment are supportive family and/or friends, and an open mind. Anything else is a distraction from finding the perfect gown!”

Q: What tips do you have for brides who aren’t sure how to pick a dress?

A: “Keep it simple. Browse online for ideas and decide on a flexible budget to give your bridal consultant. Then, try on gowns and pick the one that makes you feel confident and beautiful. Most brides say, “Yes!” when they find a gown they don’t want to take off!”

Q: What trends are you seeing in your region?

A: “Our region is all about the easy, breezy outdoor bride! Wedding gowns need to be comfortable and whimsical with a vintage vibe. Our brides want to look amazing, but still be able to run through a field with their groom and dance the night away in a barn. Another trend is having a dramatic back or neckline detail. After all, your neckline is in almost all of your pictures, and your guests see your back during most of the ceremony.”

Q: Which Maggie Sottero/Sottero & Midgley gown would you choose to wear for your own wedding?

A: “I’m happy to say I did get married in a Maggie Sottero gown! I wore Venecia, which had yards and yards of gorgeous taffeta ruffles. My seamstress worked her magic and made it tea-length to better suit my Sunday brunch wedding. It was my dream dress, and I felt so sassy and beautiful on my wedding day. I think every wedding gown has a different personality and Venecia definitely suited me!”

Q: What is your favorite bridal trend?

A: “My favorite bridal trend has to be beaded sashes. I love to draw attention to a slim waistline and nothing does it better than a sparkly belt! They can really elevate the look of a gown and you can always wear it again. How great would it be to wear your fabulous beaded belt on your wedding anniversary? It goes with everything!”

Q: If you could tell brides one thing, what would it be?

A: “I would tell brides to enjoy every moment of their engagement. Time flies by so fast. Don’t miss out on the fun because you’re stressed out. No matter what crises may happen during your wedding, at the end of the day, you’re marrying the love of your life!”
