Runway to Real Wedding: Stunning Outdoor Maryland Wedding

Tips and Trends | September 22, 2014

Dresses look great on the runway, but they look even better on real brides. For today’s Runway to Real Wedding, we’re absolutely in love with the stunning outdoor Maryland wedding of our Maggie Bride Jessica. These Syracuse college sweethearts had their gorgeous wedding in a beautiful bed and breakfast in Havre De Grace, Maryland, and incorporated elements from their university days to personalize their nuptials. “Travis loves the color orange – Syracuse – but I softened it a bit and added peach as the accent color.” While Jessica and Travis’ wedding was absolutely breathtaking, the day was not without unexpected events. “Travis and I chose to spend the night before our wedding apart,” Jessica said. “The plan was for the boys to get completely prepped at our house, but save changing into their dress clothes until they arrived at the bed and breakfast. However, in the hustle and bustle of the morning, Travis left all of his dress clothes at the house… About 45 minutes away! Luckily, we have an amazing friend who saved the day and brought Travis’ clothes in time for pictures. Everything worked out, but even so, I would’ve married him in his gym shorts. In fact, I’m happy we had an unexpected moment… It’s a funny story we will laugh about for years to come!” See more of their beautiful wedding below, and check out our selection of vintage wedding dresses!

Dress: Orianna*

Favorite part of the dress: “I loved the back of the dress! It was really the ‘Wow’ factor of the dress!”

How did you choose your wedding dress? “I went in with two requirements: I preferred to have some type of sleeve, and I didn’t want anything too poofy. When I tried on Orianna, I was taken away. It’s simplicity with a touch of sparkle was exactly what I was looking for. It wasn’t heavy, I could walk with no problem, and it felt classic. I tried on a couple other dresses, just for good measure. But when I went back to the Orianna, I was confident it was the dress!”

Favorite wedding day moment:“Any time that Travis and I got to step away and really enjoy the day was a favorite moment. Since I’m Jewish, we incorporated many important Jewish traditions into our day. My favorite moment was our Yihud, a short period of seclusion right after the ceremony. Yelling “Ahhhh” filled with excitement and realizing that we actually just got married was so incredible! That moment where it’s just the two of us, is why we chose to spend our lives together. We got time to really take it all in, and get excited to celebrate with all our friends and family!”

Advice for future brides: “I think my best advice is to just enjoy this time. After all, we only get to do this once! From the moment you said ‘Yes’, to the moment you say, ‘I Do,” will be amazing, but it will also fly by! Try not to let all the planning and details of one day stress you out. Remember it’s the life you build after the wedding that really counts. Oh, and try to remind your groom to bring his pants to the wedding!”
