Maggie Bride: Melanie in Arabella

Real Weddings | March 18, 2014

When Maggie Bride, Melanie, first tried on Arabella, she instantly fell in love. “It was the very first dress I tried on, and I was in love as soon as I laid eyes on it. The cut, style, and fabric was everything I was looking for,” Melanie said. “Unfortunately, it was the incorrect size and color, and I couldn’t get a feel for the dress when I tried it on.”  So Melanie tried on more dresses. And then some more. And even more dresses. “I went on to try heaps of other dresses, and at the very last store we went into, there it was! The first dress  I tried on, in my exact sizer and color! This time, as soon as I put it on, I just knew it was mine. Sold!” We’re just swooning over Melanie’s chic country wedding, complete with twine, lace doilies, and of course… cowboy hats. Dress: Arabella

Favorite part of the dress:  “All of it! I loved the fit of the gown and the way it molded to my body. The beaded belt and sash tied in a big, soft bow set the dress off just perfect. I loved the fact that it featured pretty bling and sparkles, along with the beautiful Chantilly lace fabric. It gave the dress a modern day vintage feel. My dress was amazing and everyone commented on how beautiful it was!”

Favorite wedding day moment: “There were a few… The look on my soon-to-be husband’s face as I was walking down the aisle, and the words he spoke to me when I finally reached him. Our children walking down the aisle holding a sign reading, “Here comes our mummy, The Bride” was priceless and to have our 9 year old daughter open the ceremony with a reading was very special. We were very blessed to have our children involved in our special day. I also will never forget the look on my mum’s face the first time she saw me all dressed and ready to be married!”

How did you and your husband meet? “ I went to school with his brother, and we met at a rodeo….. 15 years ago, and have been together ever since!”

Advice for future brides:  “I would suggest to allow heaps of time for getting ready and photographs on the day/morning of your wedding . You don’t want to feel rushed and enjoy this time with your girls and whoever else is with you getting ready. Also, the day goes way to quickly, so try and remember to take a minute and sit back with your hubby and take it all in.”

Your wedding in one word: “Perfect, of course. :)”

Did anything unexpected happen on your big day? “Yes!! We borrowed a friend’s old car to use as our wedding transport and it broke down just outside the gates of the ceremony… after it had got us there on time luckily!”
