Off-the-Shoulder Dress at Chic and Eclectic Wedding
In a word (or two), Maggie Bride Katie’s wedding looks simply smashing. We love how she and Adam incorporated chic and eclectic details, from a dazzling array of homemade cakes to a blazing-red getaway car. The couple even rocked a navy, maroon, gold, white, AND green color scheme without missing a beat. The outdoor setting was pastoral and rustic, and the indoor barn moody and romantic (hello, tea lights!). Sweet personalizations, such as hand-drawn cake toppers and a Motown band (Adam is a musician), imbued the reception with warmth and exuberance. Captured perfectly by Josh Tollafield Photography, the joy of the occasion reflects the couple’s total adoration for each other. We want to join the party!
Katie is the epitome of relaxed elegance in her off-the-shoulder gown by Sottero and Midgley*: she looks sweet and feminine, chic and understated, confident and unfussy. We love how she incorporated this on-trend design with classic florals, from the baby’s breath flower crown to her peony bouquet. Keep scrolling for more of this fabulous wedding!
How did you know when you found “the dress”?
“There were no ‘dislikes’ or parts I would change. It fit perfectly was the only one I felt like ‘me’ in.. Plus tears!”
*Katie’s Amara gown is now discontinued; see our Carson and Sipriana gowns for similar styles!
How did you and Adam meet?
” Adam had a gig at a local bar which I attended, and got chatting. We bumped into each other again at a different gig and I took a terrible picture of him (by accident!) he kept bugging me about it. 7 years later he still haven’t given up!”
How did he propose?
“We had just moved into our first home together, after 3 years of living in different cities. Just unpacked and settled, Adam cooked me dinner, and ask me the question!”
OFF-THE-SHOULDER STYLES: Inherently classic, off-the-shoulder wedding dresses are flattering to a variety of body types. For a dramatic, elegant twist, a one-shoulder wedding dress is a stunning option to this bridal trend.
Where did you get married?
“We got married in our beautiful local Church, In Old Town, Swindon. The Reception that followed was held at Cripps Barn in Bibury.”
What was your favorite part of the dress? The lace, off-the-shoulder, the back, the train.. EVERYTHING!
What was your favorite wedding day moment? I couldn’t pick one moment, it was all amazing!
Which Maggie Sottero gown did you wear? Amara* (LOVED IT SO MUCH!)
Did your wedding have a theme? Not really, the wedding had everything we loved thrown into one! The main theme really was everyone to drink lots and have fun!
How did you decide what you wanted your wedding to look like? We spent a lot of hours on Pinterest! .. Picked ideas we loved and could adapt to our venue. Although, Cripps Barn did not need much more than its own features. It was truly a beautiful place!
