Katya’s family moved to the U.S. from Mexico when she was 8 years old. She then received her B.S. in Electrical Engineering from UCLA, during which she interned at NASA JPL. (Yeah, she’s a go-getter!)

Eventually, she transitioned to a full-time engineering position and worked on five NASA missions including Perseverance and Europa Clipper. She is pursuing a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at John Hopkins University and has received an Honorary Doctorate for her humanitarian contributions to society as well as her contributions to technology!

On June 4th, 2022, she became the first Mexican-born woman in space after being selected by Space for Humanity for a mission to analyze the “overview effect”.

Katya has been featured on the cover of Vogue Mexico as well as had a Barbie modeled after her to “represent all little brown girls who dream of the stars”. Echazarreta has spoken to Mexico’s congresses Senate of the Republic and Chamber of Deputies in support of increasing STEM education for women and expanding Mexico’s spaceflight program.

In 2023, she founded Fundación Espacial, “a non-profit civil association, with the main social objective of promoting youth, women, and children, as well as scientists and engineers from Mexico, to develop skills to carry out advanced studies in the space, planetary, protection of the planet and the environment”. Way cool, right?!

What Dresses Match Katya’s Vibe?

We would guess that Katya would lean toward a dress that makes her feel confident and intelligent and emulates her total girl boss vibes. Maybe even something with a fun reference to space! So, obviously, we’d have to steer her in the direction of Aspen by Sottero and Midgley and Moon by Maggie Sottero!

Selena Quintanilla

Referred to as the “Queen of Tejano Music,” Selena’s contributions to music and fashion made her one of the most celebrated Hispanic celebrities of the late 20th century. In 2020, Billboard magazine put her in third place on their list of “Greatest Artists of All Time”. Media outlets even called her the “Tejano Madonna” for her influential clothing choices!

She also ranks among the most influential Latin artists of all time and is credited for catapulting the Tejano genre into the mainstream market. She became the first Tejano artist to win Best Mexican/American Album in 1994. Selena has sold around 18 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling female artists in Latin music! Her posthumous crossover album, Dreaming of You, debuted atop the Billboard 200, making Selena the first Latin artist to accomplish this feat!

What Dresses Match Selena’s Vibe?

We would guess that Selena’s bridal vibe would be elegant and glittering with a modern flair! We also think she’d love all those elements wrapped into a flattering silhouette like Norvinia Lane by Sottero and Midgley or Pezy by Rebecca Ingram!

(Plus, she serves look after look on red carpets that we can’t get enough of!)

She has also been nominated for a Billboard Music Award and five Latin Grammy Awards. Gomez’s studio albums, each recorded in Spanish, have all peaked within the top ten of the Billboard Top Latin Albums. She also launched her cosmetics company, Treslúce Beauty, in 2021.

If we had to choose gowns for Salma, we would go with something sultry and structured, something that brings the drama effortlessly just like she does. And we know based on her red carpet looks that she loves a red moment, so we’d put her in Barcelona by Sottero and Midgley and Scarlet Lane by Maggie Sottero!

Hispanic Celebrities: Evelyn Cisneros

Evelyn Cisneros was the first Mexican-American prima ballerina, a title that has only been given to 11 women! At the age of only 15, Evelyn got a scholarship to the School of American Ballet. Two years later, she was offered an apprenticeship with San Francisco Ballet in 1976 but faced discrimination as a Hispanic dancer. This experience motivated her to make her mark and rise in the company’s ranks, eventually achieving the position of principal dancer.

Evelyn danced for 23 years with the San Francisco Ballet, performing principal roles in ballets such as Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, Theme and Variations, Cinderella, and many more.

During her career, she dedicated much of her time to less fortunate Hispanic and Latina girls and worked as a volunteer in several community organizations. (Love that!) Evelyn’s community activism has also gained her recognition and numerous awards.

What Dresses Match Evelyn’s Vibe?

For Evelyn, we’d have to go with something ballet-core, of course! We’d love to see her in spaghetti straps, light and airy fabrics, and gowns with delicate details! Lucy by Rebecca Ingram gives us major Swan Lake vibes and we think she’d be a fan of Sarah by Rebecca Ingram!

The films she has appeared in have grossed more than $15 billion worldwide and, as of 2024, she is the second highest-grossing film actress. Time magazine also named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2023. Can we get a round of applause for Zoe? She’s amazing!

What Dresses Match Zoe’s Vibe?

Based on her street style, Zoe’s vibe seems to like clothes that are simple and sophisticated, and she tends to gravitate toward darker colors. Because of that, we think she’d look stunning in Vivica by Maggie Sottero and Bennett by Maggie Sottero!

Hispanic Celebrities: Frida Kahlo

One of the most well-known Hispanic celebrities is Frida Kahlo. She was a renowned Mexican painter known for her unique and emotionally charged self-portraits. She was influential due to her contributions to the Surrealist and Mexican art movements. Her ability to convey her personal struggles through her art was also widely influential. (Which is incredible BTW!) Kahlo’s work continues to resonate with audiences worldwide. The art addressing themes of identity, gender, and Mexican culture, making her an icon in the world of visual arts.

What Dresses Match Frida’s Vibe?

We would put Frida in something bold, colorful, intense, and that shows off her artistic side. The dresses that come to mind for us that match her vibe are Juniper by Sottero and Midgley and Scarlet by Maggie Sottero!

Hispanic Celebrities: Shakira
