There are plenty of ways to celebrate Women’s History Month, but we’ve been extra excited to dive into another round of our favorite bride-related topics: celebrity wedding dresses and the love stories they tell. If you can’t get enough iconic bridal style, this gallery is tailor-made for you!
Why Feature Celebrity Wedding Dresses?
In celebration of Women’s History Month, we decided to give a special shout-out to important female figures throughout history and highlight their bridal looks! Many brides look for inspiration in the women who came before them. So, why not pay tribute to these important historical figures with your wedding dress? Who knows, maybe one day it will be you in these blogs… Let’s make history, ladies!
Grace Kelly and her Lace Celebrity Wedding Dress
First up, the most celebrity-est of celebrities and most glamorous of glamor: Grace Kelly. Of course we want to highlight the Princess of Monaco — she redefined what it means to be a royal! Grace Kelly represents the multifaceted power of femininity. She gave women valuable insight into diplomacy and philanthropy while serving as a global fashion icon and successful Hollywood star. She was a dedicated professional and public figure, empowering communities by using her title to help others — and always known for her dignity and kindness.
You’ve seen the iconic photographs: Grace’s bridal look featured a stunning ballgown with a lace long-sleeve bodice, high neckline, and simple (but lush) bell skirt. If you love lace and a long-sleeve moment as much as Grace did, a fun option for recreating her celebrity wedding dress could be Norvinia Lynette by Sottero and Midgley. This is a timelessly regal ball gown wedding dress featuring sparkly lace — a stunning choice for a demure and elegant wedding vibe.

Princess Diana’s Regal Bridal Look
Like Grace Kelly, Princess Diana was known for her charitable work. A few iconic moments from her years in the spotlight:
- During her marriage, Diana was president or patron of over 100 different charities.
- She was also an activist who advocated for AIDS research and solving homelessness in the U.K. — two topics that were considered taboo for royals to talk about.
- Diana was one of the first public figures to be photographed touching AIDS victims, thus helping to destigmatize the condition.
Princess Diana’s celebrity wedding dress was another stunning ballgown — a Disney princess-like silhouette with dramatic puff sleeves, a touch of sparkle on her bodice, ruffled flourishes, and a chic bow. If you’ve always loved Diana’s gown, Juniper by Sottero and Midgley has all the voluminous, over-the-top fabulousness you could ask for! She’s luxe, ultra-modern with some flare, and just the kind of thing we imagine Diana would wear today.

Amal Clooney’s Celebrity Wedding Dress
An all-time famous human rights lawyer and social justice icon, Amal Clooney inspires us with her dedication to the Clooney Foundation for Justice, an organization that ensures those responsible for human rights violations worldwide are held accountable. Amal’s foundation focuses on war crimes, genocide, freedom of the press, women’s rights, and promoting rule. She has represented political prisoners around the world and played an essential role in many landmark human rights cases.
Here’s a quote we love from Amal Clooney:
“As women, we may not be a minority, but there is a bond that we all share. It is not a bond of geography. Or religion. Or culture. It is a bond of shared experience — experiences that only women go through and struggles that only women face.”
Amal Clooney stunned on her wedding day in an off-the-shoulder A-line lace bridal gown. If Amal is someone who inspires you and you want to recreate her look, we have a gorgeous variation: Edison by Maggie Sottero is a modern twist on Amal’s celebrity wedding dress, featuring romantic lace with a statement illusion train and off-the-shoulder lace straps — fabulous from any angle.

Elizabeth Taylor: Hollywood Romance
Another lifelong celebrity and social advocate, Elizabeth Taylor used her celebrity to bring attention to important health crises and entrepreneurial endeavors:
- Elizabeth co-founded The Foundation for AIDS Research in 1985 and regularly encouraged the government to address the crisis.
- She also established the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation in 1991 to provide care for vulnerable patients.
- On top of what she did for the AIDS community, she negotiated the first $1 million contract for an actor and became the first female social entrepreneur.
- In 2000, she was made Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
Elizabeth Taylor’s bridal gown gives us sophisticated princess vibes with an off-the-shoulder fitted bodice and full ballgown skirt. Long sleeves and simple satin make this celebrity wedding dress one to remember. Elizabeth’s look reminds us a lot of Derrick by Maggie Sottero, a satin V-neckline bridal gown with exposed boning details and detachable cap sleeves (if you’re after that off-the-shoulder look). It’s a little bit thespian, a little bit ballerina, and 100% dreamy drama.

Serena Williams in Chic Tulle
Serena Williams revolutionized women’s tennis and has won more Grand Slam singles titles than any other man or woman during the open era. Her list of accolades and accomplishments is truly impressive:
- Serena changed the stereotype of how a sports champion should look, dress, and act. She showed that women can be strong and beautiful and still win.
- She broke down barriers to bring more diversity to tennis… She strongly advocates that prize money for women should be the same as for men and unapologetically brought her black American female identity to a stereotypically white sport.
- She is a true force of talent and dedication, having dominated the sport for over two decades.
For inspo, here’s one of our favorite Serena Williams quotes:
“With a defeat, when you lose, you get up, you make it better, you try again. That’s what I do in life, when I get down, when I get sick, I don’t want to just stop. I keep going and I try to do more. Everyone always says never give up but you really have to take that to heart and really do never definitely give up. Keep trying.”
For her wedding, Serena Williams wore a dramatic tulle ballgown with a simple sweetheart neckline. If you love a sweetheart neckline and larger-than-life tulle skirt like Serena does and aren’t afraid to own your girliness, we can’t help but steer you in the direction of Elton by Sottero and Midgley. We’re getting Silver Screen vibes and red carpet magic. We’re getting sweet-spice-everything-nice in this princess ball gown wedding dress with layered tulle and a beaded bodice.

Kate Middleton in an A-line Silhouette
Like Princess Diana before her, Kate Middleton undertakes many philanthropic projects through the Royal Foundation, focusing on issues like early childhood care, addiction, and art. She encourages people to discuss their mental health through her campaign, Heads Together. She has worked with charities for over a decade to lay the groundwork for understanding the complexities of mental health.
Kate Middleton wore an A-line celebrity wedding dress that was the perfect balance of lace and regal simplicity. The simple A-line gown with a sweetheart neckline’s bodice was covered in delicate lace overlays with lace long sleeves and a stunning lace v-neck. Love her look? Kate’s wedding dress reminds us of Kingsley by Sottero and Midgley, a keyhole back A-line wedding gown featuring unique floral lace.

Michelle Obama’s Celebrity Wedding Dress
Former First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama has become a role model for women and continues to dedicate herself to work for healthy families, higher education, and service members and their families. Her many advocacy interests include:
- Helping working women balance their careers and families
- Encouraging children to participate in physical activities
- Increased access to healthier food
- Poverty awareness and social reform
Here’s a quote we love from Michelle Obama:
“For me, becoming isn’t about arriving somewhere or achieving a certain aim. I see it instead as forward motion, a means of evolving, a way to reach continuously toward a better self. The journey doesn’t end.”
Michelle Obama’s celebrity wedding dress was a beautiful off-the-shoulder long-sleeve simple A-line bridal gown with a stunningly oversized satin bow in the back. If you’re totally inspired by Michelle Obama and looking for something similar, Kiki by Rebecca Ingram gives us the same gorgeous vibes as Michelle’s wedding dress. Kiki is a vintage off-the-shoulder satin ballgown bridal dress with a statement bow accessory that makes for particularly dazzling photo ops.
