Faces At Maggie: Our Wedding Gown Guru

Working with amazing, inspiring people is one of the perks of life here at Maggie Sottero. And our Bridal Sales Manager, Suzanne, is one of the most inspiring! In the wedding industry for over 20 years, Suzanne is our very own wedding gown guru, and has helped countless brides find the perfect wedding dress. We had the privilege of chatting with Suzanne, getting the inside scoop on all things wedding! Below, Suzanne shares some of her favorite bridal trends, tips for choosing a perfect wedding dress, and even divulges details from her own wedding day!

Q: What are some of your favorite bridal trends?

A: There are so many fabulous elements trending right now! Among my favorites are dramatic back treatments. I love the illusion lace back, as well as the low, plunging backs we’re offering on wedding dresses like Emiliano by Maggie Sottero. We’re also seeing lace sleeves trending, which I love. I especially love the illusion lace sleeves found in our Sottero and Midgley Dominic wedding dress, which will also be on our website soon! And of course, my list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the beaded trend. My favorite is the dramatic, beaded lace cape on gorgeous Anthony by Sottero and Midgley!

Q: What’s your best advice to a bride searching for her wedding dress?

A: Give yourself plenty of time to special order the gown of your dreams. Be open to trying on different silhouettes. Bridal consultants are expert at helping you discover the silhouette that looks fabulous on your figure and matches your personal style. Sometimes, the gown you ultimately fall in love with is different than the original gown you may have envisioned!

Q: Describe your own wedding in one word.

A: I’m never a woman of just one word! But if I have to… “Perfection.”

Q: If you could have your wedding all over again, what would you do differently?

A: I would have two wedding dresses! I was married before that became a trend, but I would love to have a “wedding gown” and a “reception gown”… And possibly even a third gown for the first dance!

Q: What song was your first dance?

A: “When I Fall In Love” by Celine Dion. Yes… I am a huge fan of the movie, Sleepless in Seattle.

Q: What is your favorite thing about working in the wedding industry?

A: Helping make brides’ dreams come true. I know it sounds cliche, but when I’m working with a bride and see her face light up the moment she falls in love with her wedding dress, a dress I had a small part in helping her discover, it’s a magical moment. I also love to see the stunning gowns we create come to life! From the first sketch, to the runway, to the bridal salon, and ultimately to the Maggie, Midgley and Rebecca brides who wear them on their wedding day!

Q: OK, last question for our wedding gown guru. . . Which Maggie Sottero wedding dress would you choose to wear? You can pick more than one!

A: From Sottero and Midgley, I would choose to wear Finley because of its unique allover lace and bishops sleeves. From Maggie Sottero, I would wear Nikki because of its long illusion lace puff sleeves and flattering silhouette. And from our affordable Rebecca Ingram line, I would choose Iris because of its scalloped bodice and boho aesthetic!
